I was excited when I came home from my vacation & Thanksgiving holiday to find my Wacom Bamboo had arrived (my grand prize from the DHD DSD). I love it. A new toy for me AND and early Christmas present. YAY!! Of course, now I need some guidance. So, any tips for a beginner on how to use it?

Yay! You'll have so much fun. My tips would be 1. put away your mouse! The whole, "Hey, it's just like a pen - and I write with a pen, so easy-peasy, right?" ... well, that's kinda true. It can take a bit of getting used to. And 2. Don't worry about programming the tablet yet with shortcuts - get used to how things work, first.

Jessica Sprague offered a great class on using the Bamboo, not sure if she is still offering it or not, but it was well worth it.

I must admit that I pulled it out of the box as soon as I got it and hooked it up. Did a couple of the trial things and since haven't hooked it back up. I keep wanting to try out some other stuff but am daunted a bit.

Meagan, I'm glad it arrived safe, and you like it, and you've even started using it! I hope you get the hang of it quickly! Kat's suggestion is great. Put away your mouse for a while, stick to the tablet, and you'll get more comfortable with it. I have a Wacom tablet at work (company property, alas), and I use it sometimes in Illustrator when I'm doing web designs and mockups. I've watched some tutorials about how to use it to touch up photos, but I haven't gotten the hang of that yet. There's all of this untapped potential that I have yet to start using. Someday soon, though
